The event will also be the launch of Persephone’s Pancreas, my debut myth and medical poetry collection.

Commissioned by Ōtepoti Writers Lab in 2023. Persephone’s Pizza Attack is a poem that explores Chronic Pancreatitis through the lens of the Greek mythology in particular the myth of Persephone. I immediately felt a kinship with Persephone due to the extreme consequences that arise from her consumption of three pomegranate seeds.
